This journal is dedicated to quality book reviews, I myself am a published author, I have co-authored a medical book and written several articles which have been published in Nursing Journal’s.

I have been an avid reader all my life but never analyzed the books. Now, I check for characterizations; without in depth characters, the book will not work. Then I look at the plot, is it interesting to me, and will it be of interest to other readers? Then I focus to see if the author has maintained a voice and style that carry throughout the book. Then the next focus is, is the book entertaining and informative. And last, is the book good? I believe a good reviewer must be objective. I find being a book reviewer is the help it gives me as a serious writer.

Book Review:
– Read the book for pleasure
Keep a notebook handy and jot down quotes and/or page numbers you think are important
– share those key points in your review
– do research
do some background research on the author, the topic, the book and gather information you can incorporate into your review.
– provide links (provide links to the author’s website)
– make your review unique (incorporate your personality and your expertise)
– Read literary criticism as much as possible, try to make this daily.
Publishers Weekly and the Sunday New York Times Book Review this will help you understand the sort of critical voice editors are looking for.

Send sample reviews and published clips to editors, start with your local papers and work your way up from there. Good luck and I hope everyone enjoys this Quality Book Review blog.
